Windows 2012 reaches end of life Oct 23

Windows 2012 “End Of Life” On October 23

Windows 2012 will reach its ‘end of life’ date in October 2023. But what does this mean for those of you that still use & rely upon Windows Server 2012?

What Do We Mean By “END OF LIFE”?

After the 10th October 2023, Windows Server 2012 & R2 will stop receiving the weekly security patches, hotfixes and also the critical security fixes that are rolled out on a current version of an operating system.

The “Mainstream Support Phase” of W12 & R2 has already ended back in 2018 and it is currently classed as in an “Extended Support Phase”. Extended support software only receives critical security updates.

After Windows Server 2012 hits end of life Microsoft will stop rolling out security fixes meaning your systems may become vulnerable and an easy target for cybercrime. This may put you at risk of losing compliancy with cyber essentials when audited.

We highly recommend that you take a look at other options well in advance.

What Are My Options?

If you are currently using a system running Windows Server 2012 or 2012 R2, we recommend that you begin planning a server migration / upgrade now.

It is significantly easier to replace hardware, perform system upgrades and updates on a your own terms as opposed to taking action due to a total system failure, cyber attack or outage.

The planning process can take time and solutions range from upgrading your hardware to moving to a cloud based solution. Get in touch with the team at Cortec to discuss the best way forwards for your business. As with all things IT, we will recommend the best options for you rather than a one size fits all scenario.

At last, we like to request you to get in touch now to avoid the anticipated last minute rush.
